She was still latched onto Marcus with all the strength her hands could muster in the moment and as much as she liked Archer, no her mind did not think relinquishing her hold was in her best interest. The logical argument, that things had to be safer indoors where he eyes couldn’t wander down to the body there and remind herself all over again was just lost on her. No her mind was working on a much more fundamental level, Archer wasn’t here and Marcus was. Besides there was a part of her that wasn’t sure things were safer inside anymore.
It wasn’t until Eli reached out to touch her arm that Rachel even began to comprehend the situation. At first the touch just startled her but at least it got her eyes off the body, even if her heart was suddenly in her throat and tears finally started to seep from her eyes. Her wide blue eyes finally tore away from the body to regard Eli. There was an accusation in that look. Fear, suspicion, and her general consternation all mingled for a moment to obviously at the the surface of her face and then as she recognized Eli they faded back and she glanced to Marcus. But when she looked to Marcus it was clear she was simply in the way here.
Nodding slightly she finally unlatched herself and turned back to the building. Taking a deep breath Rachel resisted the urge to look back at the body again. She had already written it too deeply into her memory. No best to let them take over and so she let Eli lead her where he would, perhaps he would find Archer.
