"If they do, they didn't hear it from me," the older man chuckled, perhaps anticipating the possibility that the Red Door staff might include a psychic or seer of some type. True psychics were quite rare, however, and it was difficult to keep them from taking their own lives. Somehow, Belli didn't think that they'd consult higher powers just for business intel. Even he wasn't that wasteful of resources.
He walked over to the large office window, lifted high above the streets of Las Vegas. It was quite a view, and in November the heat radiating from just outside the glass was far from oppressive. There were definitely worse places to be. "No, they don't. If they're hiding something from me, then I don't want to give them warning. If they aren't, they won't be too put out by a surprise."
"Besides," he added, looking back over his shoulder to meet the other man's smile with one of his own. "Who doesn't like surprises? If they doubt your word, have them call me."
Besides, it wasn't like they could claim there wasn't a vacant position, with the incubus missing. Mike McBrayer was no replacement for an incubus, but how amusing would it be if he were forced to try? One way or another, they'd have to find a use for the man. Belli preferred to have Mike in security for convenience, but he knew that his man would get the necessary information regardless of position.
