Konstantin did all he could not to roll his eyes at the tequila comment. He would never understand people that drank that stuff. It tasted like you should wash the floor with it. The point of drinking wasn't supposed to be to get drunk, it was to enjoy what you were drinking. He couldn't imagine anyone enjoying tequila. Or American beer for that matter.
He looked around for a waitress. He didn't have a menu, but that was just as well for him, he hated reading English but he hated it even more when he had to ask Tanner what certain words were. And worse yet, when he read the menu to him like he was a child. Better that he just ordered himself a hamburger and fries. And that's what he did, along with a double of any vodka she could find with a label in Cyrillic.
"Nyet Chicago or California. We come to here, this place here. To have nice...." Damnit, what was the English? "Каникулы. A rest to have no work. He work a lot, is nice to have time. Hotel is nice place, we like to be-- to have time away." It wasn't that he wasn't working on his English, it was just that it didn't stick in his head as well as he wanted it to. He was getting frustrated. Brighton Beach might have made a nicer honeymoon. It wasn't the least bit away from home but at least he wouldn't have sounded like a caveman there.
