"I don't know if she's in here or not. If she is, she isn't in one of the rooms I can see," he said as helpfully as he could, shaking his head slightly.
"Look... there's got to be a reason for all of this, but I don't know what it is," Max muttered. "There's..."
He knew that keeping secrets from her wasn't going to be the way to earn her trust, so he exhaled slowly and then plunged in. "One of the rooms has a pregnant girl in it. She's kind of far away so I can't see her very well, but she doesn't look... alive. But whoever put her in that room, they... displayed her. Like a science project. They want people to be able to see her... Maybe they're making an example out of her, I don't know. But she's really pregnant and it looks like they were... examining her." He sort of coughed, unsure how to word it any more delicately since she couldn't see the horror for herself.
"It's like someone wanted to know how she was put together."
