Friday nights for many involved hanging out with friends, maybe having or attending parties, and plenty of other social activities. Those were great ways to spend time, but this Friday night Ellie was not engaging in that type of entertainment. She'd been sick with a cold most of the week and it had kept her from being overly active in both dance and exercise. Though she disliked having to cut back on her training (especially with auditions for the Royal Ballet right around the corner), she knew that she'd do more harm than good to her body if she over-exerted herself and it would wind up making her even sicker. Yesterday had been the turning point in her illness though, and by this morning she was feeling pretty great. Not one hundred percent better, but definitely capable of exercising and catching up a few hours of dance rehearsal on her own time.
After class, she'd spent a number of hours dancing. Being able to get in there and work on her routines had been enough to really help her feel better, as dancing was a part of who she was. When she couldn't do it, she didn't feel like herself. Once she decided to call it a day, she was still feeling a bit energized and she wanted to take advantage of that. So rather than just jogging back to her dorm, she headed out to the pitch to run the perimeter a number of times. She stuck her earbuds in and turned on her usual running playlist, which let her zone out as she ran. Anytime Ellie zoned out of reality was a bit of a risk, as she became blissfully unaware of the world around her. That worked for dancing on stage, but running outside was probably not the best set of circumstances to be daydreaming. Which was why when she ran right into someone, she hadn't even seen it coming.
