David was exhausted. It had only been two weeks, and already he was feeling worn down. Of course, that really had very little to do with school, he knew that. Until Sasha was 100% ok, David wasn't going to be anything but exhausted. He hadn't slept well since she got sick again, so needless to say it had been quite a while since he hadn't been tired. Thankfully she was home now, and clear, but she hadn't gotten the return to school bit yet, and that was the last piece of this puzzle really. Once she was back in school, David would be able to believe the ordeal was over, but not before then. After everything they had gone through, he was ready for it to be over. David slumped onto his bed and ran his hand through his hair. It was nice to be able to do that again. He'd shaved it all off when Sasha had lost hers, right before he'd gone in for the surgery, and he'd kept it shaved until Sash's had started to grow back. It was just getting longer now, he'd still kept it cut close until hers was fully growing in. He wanted to make sure she had no doubt they were fully in this together. He'd never back out on her, not even for a second. It had been extremely touching when James had done the same. He really hadn't known how to express how much that meant to him, but he was pretty sure James knew.
He had gotten a text from Sasha as he was on his way back to the dorm that she wanted to talk. Now that he was comfortably in the confines of his own room, he hit the speed dial for her number and waited for the other end to connect. He wasn't sure what this was about, but it damn well better be good news, he thought. They needed more good news. They had had too much bad news in the last year and a half, but no matter what it was, as long as she was ok that was all that mattered. David would deal with the rest. Finally he heard it connect. "Hey Sash," he said, not able to mask how tired his voice sounded. "What's going on?"
