She had been waiting for this night for about two weeks now. Counting the days. Thinking it over. And not at all for herself. She had told her best mate to go for it and just ask James to dance. Maybe try a kiss again. Something to see if something was there. Her reason was simple: if Lily felt nervous that entire dance, heart in her throat? Then the girl actually had feeling for James, not just missed the undying devotion he had shown her over the last six years pointlessly. If everything felt normal and perfect, then it was just that-she was used to him, not fancying him. It was a fool-proof and harmless plot, in her mind. The only real issue was Sirius. She could reason with Remus easily and simply existing would chase off Peter. But dealing with Sirius was like trying to pull a lion off of a fresh kill when it came to protecting his dear James. Honestly, the girl was convinced Sirius was actually mentally dating James rather than just laughing about it on Facebook. It would explain a lot, actually. Still, she hadn't even thought of a plan until she saw Lily looking over at James and realized she needed to act. Soon. So she jumped at the chance to hopefully get this working correctly.
She hurried over to wear Sirius was and did the first thing that came to mind to get his attention. And open-palmed slapped his rear before standing level with him. Smooth as butter. She looked up at him and offered a smile. Just look down at her, please. Granted, chances were he could have been eyeing some of the other ladies at the disco. She had barely convinced herself to pull on her plain black dress, but he was stunning in his attire. Then again, he was stunning in everything he wore. It was frustrating for her to know she was the best friend, just that. She would kill (maybe not literally) to be something more in his eyes, but that was not in the cards. Still, she was usually successful at stealing his attention now and then. Sometimes it was the only benefit of being friends with him. "'ello Lovely," she quipped with a smirk.
