He had been nervously twiddling his thumbs, waiting for an angry response from Sirius, something like an online hex that somehow would pop out of his computer and petrify him. Nobody would notice he had disappeared, either: the Hogwarts train would leave without him and he'd never be able to go back for his final year. Nervously, he edged the computer away from him, pointing it so that the screen faced a nearby wall instead of him.
Rather than receive the bad end of a bat-bogey hex, he instead got a flurry of messages from Andromeda, which he haltingly read before coming to a complete stop at the end. He spent several moments staring at the period at the end of the final sentence, then returned his gaze to the screen as a whole.
She hadn't told Sirius?
Well, why not? Was she ashamed of him? He knew it: he knew a girl like her couldn't be really interested in him. He was quiet and shy and wasn't even the size of a normal guy. He was temporary, good enough for now but not good enough to bring home to Sirius.
Or maybe it was just that she was nervous about how he would feel too. Maybe she was worried that Sirius would beat up on him no matter how she felt. Maybe it was all about protecting him. But why did he need to be protected? He could take care of himself! Did she think he was weak?
After another long pause, he decided he had to say something. Even if he had no idea what to say after.. that.
[private chat - Andromeda] callmemontague: Oh. callmemontague: Well.. why not? callmemontague: I mean, why didn't you tell him? callmemontague: I mean.. we're together, right?
