Andromeda sighed and folded her arms across her chest. "I think I'll stand," she said quietly.
She let him explain, and as he did so, she became more and more confused. Had she really spent all this time believing someone's lies? She couldn't believe it. It all came down to trust, but the thing was, she didn't know who to trust anymore.
"Now? You tell me this now?" she said, her voice still quiet. "There was plenty of time to tell me before the summer started, but you waited. I spent the entire summer trying to get over this, over you. And just when I think I am, you spring this on me." Tears started welling up in her sapphire eyes. "I have a boyfriend. I have new friends."
But he was looking at her with that guilty, wistful look of his, and that small, apologetic smile that would make her heart melt in the past. And before her brain could catch up with her mouth, the words were coming out.
"I don't hate you..."
Merlin, had she really just said that? She had spent the entire summer loathing him... And now she was handing out apologies. She swallowed hard, afraid to say anything else. What would Romeo think?! Her heart was racing, and her mind was telling her that she should run.
"I don't know, Ted," she said. Her voice began to tremble, and the tears in her eyes were dangerously close to spilling over. "This is just... a lot to deal with right now." She turned her face away as the tears began to splash down her cheeks. "I... I have to go." She turned and began to walk toward the girls' dormitories, wiping furiously at her damnable tears.
