It was a terrifying and glorious feeling, the passion wrapped up in that one single embrace. It said so many things, things she had worried about for the past few weeks, things that could never be explained in words. Deep down, in a way that would live on despite what she'd done to hurt him, he still loved her as he always had--even if this never worked out, they would be best friends. Always would be best friends.
When he released her, it didn't matter that it had only been a moment. It didn't matter that he hadn't kissed her or said anything more than "I've missed you too". It all made sense when she looked up at him and he gave that crooked smile. None of the past mattered anymore.
"Of course," was her simple answer, accented by her wide and familiar grin. Without thinking, she raised herself up on her toes and gave him a very light--and quick--kiss on the lips. Almost immediately she flushed a light red, though not losing an ounce of the grin on her features, before going back to her seat and pretending to be absorbed in petting her black cat, who of course had come along for the ride and was contentedly purring next to her.
