Remus hadn't actually been hugged like that since...well before Halloween 1981, given the distance that had grown between all of them and the fact he did really hug anyone else but his three best friends and his parents. His first instinct was to stiffen in surprise, much like it had sounded like Regulus had earlier. But, an older instinct took over immediately after and he relaxed, letting his arms wrap around Sirius in return.
Even if the other man's next words had yet another sigh breathing past his lips. "Don't make promises you can't keep, Sirius. There's nothing to fix. It's already done. Even if we can go back, just being here now irreparably changes us. We won't be the same people because we won't make the same choices, the same set of events might not even happen. Just...do something I rarely ever tell you to do and focus on now, not then."
Who knew if they could even go back? Or if they should? They could mess up the world even more than it already was by trying to 'fix' breaks they didn't fully understand.
"Come on," he said, pulling away. "Let's go see if your brother's found anyone, or maybe see if we can break into the Headmasters' office and have a chat with a few portraits, hm?"
