"Oh, she's used it with Uncle Ron. Maybe not in her teens or twenties. But, I've heard the Bilius come out at least once. As I told Uncle Ron, I have no idea what he did and I didn't stick around to find out. Rose and I got Lilu, Louis, and Hugo out to the back garden before the yelling could start." Jamie smirked, raising an eyebrow. "And I've heard Mum pull out the James with you. So, don't try to tell me you don't have a middle name."
Laughing, Jamie pulled out the candle so he could grab the bit of cake around it. "That I'd believe. You spent most of the summer before I started Hogwarts teaching me how to keep from getting into routines, vary the routes I took to classes, not choosing the same things at meal times, anything that someone could use against me." He snorted softly. "Doesn't matter if I am or not. I'm your son, his nephew. There is no context to my life outside our family. I was working on building one for the job, but I guess I died before that could happen."
He smiled sadly. "Yes, to both maybes. But, that's changed, Dad. You're changing my opinions of you. I don't know what happened, if it really was just the bored and drinking, if you felt trapped in a life that left you bored and drinking, or what it was. But, you aren't as cold now as you became. He never would have believed I could help him find these clues, never would have tried to talk to me like this. Most of the time he remembered this as the day Sirius died instead of the day I was born. But, you're here and despite how much of an arse I was in the beginning, you're still trying. I do believe you would now, you as you are."
Jamie searched his dad's expression for a long moment, not sure what he was looking for but feeling like he found whatever it was anyway. "All right. If you believe it...I'll work on believing it." Setting the plate to floating between them, he moved to sit on the wall where the plate had been and leaned against the merlon. "So. Where do I need to improve? We've worked together a few times now. You've seen what I can do. What do I need to learn?" If Dad couldn't be in three places at once, then there needed to be two of them to be in two places for Lilu and Al, if needed.
