Re: James | Remus
"I know. Doesn't stop me worrying about him in the meant time." Remus smiled ruefully. He knew James was right. Sirius would come around...eventually. But, if Regulus couldn't find a cure... That wasn't something Remus was going to think about, though. And he let himself laugh, albeit weakly, at Sirius' reaction to the baby announcement. "He's like a big kid himself over babies. I'm sure having a new little godchild to spoil will snap him out of this spiral he's gotten himself into."
If nothing else, focusing on the baby would mean Sirius might forget to be upset with Remus...maybe.
Watching James' face struggle with his glasses, Remus chuckled softly and let go of his friend's hand so he could do something about them. "Maybe on the weekends," he agreed. He knew life was hard. Hell, he'd seen truly hard, so hard he prayed to gods he didn't believe in that his friends never knew that kind of hard. "I'm not good at this stuff. I just talk a good game," he retorted, one corner of his mouth twisting up in amusement. "I thought you knew that."
Eyelids beginning to droop, he let them close for a few moments, just listening to James voice. He knew what Prongs was getting at. But, he also knew that someday, he'd have to move past it, one way or another, for his own sake and there was only so much Remus could nudge. "I know, James. And, despite that, you still trust him at your back in a fight." He snorted softly. "As long as you take your swing when he's not slowly dying from this poison and has a chance of defending himself. But, that sounds like a good plan. One step at a time is all any of us can ask for."
It was getting more difficult to stay awake and Remus knew he was going to end up falling back asleep in a little while. But, he wanted every moment he could get with his friends. Just in case. "I'm going to pass out on you soon."
