Re: James | Remus
James planted his twitchy foot firmly on the ground. "I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to be reassuring you right now," he grumbled, only mostly joking. "I'll tell Lils not to be such a drama queen." It wasn't that he didn't trust Regulus Black (although he didn't, not at all). But it was all so very out of his control that it was almost painful. As much as he loved carting books back and forth and refilling water jugs, he wished there was something better he could be doing.
James watched Remus' eyes flutter closed for a moment. He shifted his hand slightly, his fingers brushing his friend's wrist. Remus' skin was clammy, somehow managing to be hot and cold at the same time. "Well, it's about time Moony started earning his keep, to be fair," he joked, although it fell a little flat in the hush of the room.
"Um... well, Peter's been over here, hasn't he? He's okay. Marlene says bed rest will keep things slow, but I dunno how much of that he's doing." James wasn't sure where he and Peter stood at the moment. When facing the troll, and again with the birds, it had been easy to believe they could patch it up. Then the adrenaline wore off and all the uncertainty flooded back. It was confusing, and he wasn't sure he had the head space to think too hard about it right now.
"Lilu will be okay," he continued. "Her hands got burned badly shoving Scorpius into the pool, so there'll be scarring but she'll live. But Al's in a bad way. He got a big dose of it, like you... I don't think Marlene could save his eye." James' hand had made its way into his hair, twisting in the thick strands as he frowned.
"Uh.. Scorpius' burns are all over, more or less. Nott seems pretty similar to Pete. Lucius Malfoy and Snape aren't too good, but I don't know the details."
