Re: James | Remus
"Hey," he chided softly, the quiet shush of James' shoe shifting against the floor -- a sound Remus alone could likely hear -- belying his friend's words. "There really isn't, you know. Need to panic. If Regulus says he's going to find a cure, he's going to find it. However bad it looks, or feels, we're all going to pull through." He smiled softly, adding a teasing "And I'll be happy to tell Lily the same if she comes to see me."
Remus could feel his temperature spiking briefly and closed his eyes, breathing through the sudden weakness until it passed a few moments later. When he opened his eyes again, he turned his head to meet James' gaze once more. "There isn't much that works for me out of the box, as it were. You remember how annoyed Madame Pomfrey used to get at not having anything that worked well after the transformations? Regulus was going to tell Marlene to keep my metabolism in mind. But, right now, it looks like the best thing for me is to let the curse fight the poison and hope the former slows it down. Who'd have thought we'd be relying on my condition to keep me alive for once, hm?"
But, he didn't want to keep dwelling on his own condition. That would would lead to erroding his optimism and Remus refused to believe anything other than that Regulus would find a cure. "How is everyone else, really? Regulus told me a bit. But, I didn't want to keep him too long asking questions when he was needed to help figure out how to stop this."
