Re: Regulus/Remus
"No, I didn't do it for you this time. But, I would if i had to," Remus said firmly. Somehow, in a scant four months, Regulus had become someone Remus would die to protect. He wasn't sure when it had happened. But, he couldn't regret it, either. "And Sirius wasn't being careless. He just doesn't have eyes in the back of his head." Remus had lost his friends once. He wouldn't do it again if he was there to stop it from happening.
Unconsciously licking his lips to ease the dryness of his mouth, Remus sighed. "Then I will rest and take breaks. Peter and I can work together. I'm sure he'll be happy to keep an eye on me for you so you can be assured I won't overdo. But, if my options are sleeping and waiting here to learn if I'm going to die, the restlessness will do as much damage as any so-called activity. I can't find a solution. Even I know that. But, I might be able to identify the birds. I may not have my future self's experience, but I'm still the best one here when it comes magical creatures."
His eyes fluttered at the feel of Regulus' lips, a balm to his fevered skin. "Tell her to take my metabolism into account," he advised quietly. "It's fuzzy, but this hit me fast. It could be because of how many talons I got stabbed with, or how deep. But, it couldn't have been more than minutes before it felt like everything drained out of me."
