Perhaps I've been out of the loop for far too long, but when did spiders start spending time in and around the Greenhouses? And how did they get so big?

I had to save some of the mandrakes from spiders about the size of my hand, and believe me when I say I went and took a shower immediately afterwards.

Anyway, if someone could please assist me with convincing the arachnids to go elsewhere, I and the mandrakes would appreciate it.

It's not unheard of for some species of spider to migrate indoors during warmer months. Peppermint and lemon juice is usually a decent repellent. But, you don't generally see species of that size in this area. Not outside of the Forest, at least. And, anything living in the Forest wouldn't need to come to the greenhouses for cooler climes.
