"Marlene and her pus, eh?" James smiled, tearing a piece off his bread absently. "How's she doing? We should all go out together soon. And drag Remus and Sirius along as well." As was so often the case, he felt Peter's name catching at the back of his throat. It still felt wrong not to invite him. He'd hoped it would get easier with time, but the annoying git seemed to have taken up permanent residence in the back of his head.
Pushing the thoughts of Wormtail aside, he chuckled at the idea of Lily wrangling Mandrakes. There was something stupidly endearing about her coming home all covered in dirt after a day of plant parenting. Although she obviously deserved some credit... Merlin knew James would probably end up losing a finger if he ever tried it.
He reached for a bottle of pumpkin juice, popping the cap and taking a drink as he considered the question. "Apart from the baby you mean?" he shot her a grin, before it slid away a little. "I dunno. Probably the pictures of Mum and Dad, or something."
Not exactly creative, but honest. Apart from the cloak, which was technically Harry's, he didn't have anything left of his parents. He hadn't kept much after they'd died - something he regretted, but he'd been so muddled at that time that he'd just let the inheritance guys handle everything - and the few things he'd kept hold of would be long gone by now.
"You?" he asked, absently reaching out to push some of her dark red hair back off her shoulder, threading his fingers through the strands for a moment before he took another gulp of juice. "Godric, just don't say the cat. Bloody thing's probably still prowling around Somerset somewhere."
