RP: Myron & Kirley
Who: Myron & Kirley
What: Just your standard Saturday night
Where: Soho, London
When: 22nd May, 10pm

"We should try them live," Myron continued, sticking his free hand deeper into his jacket pocket as he strode along beside Kirley. "I mean, even if we find an open mic around here or just use Styx for an evening. We can't be sure we've got it playing in that little box."

He took a drag of the cigarette, tasting the burning sensation and watching the smoke escape his lips in clouds. It was cold and wet (obviously), but London's version of cold and wet had always felt more forgiving than Scotland's. Or maybe it was the fact that it was more easy to be distracted. Whatever it was, Myron was glad to be away from the castle and the endless, pressing amount of people. Perhaps that was a weird thing to think amongst the bustle of London, but the city had an anonymous kind of busy that suited him. He took another last drag on the cigarette and flicked the butt away, making sure to grind it under his heel as he walked on and reached a little shakily for another.

"Merlin, this place hasn't changed," he commented, with no small relief as they turned into one of Soho's sidestreets. The tired old lights in the bars and clubs cast a welcoming glow over the cobbles.

"French House?" He suggested, nodding towards the old pub. It had been years since they'd had to go searching for stuff, but back in the day the historic watering hole had usually been a pretty good bet. "Or d'you reckon they might remember us? The years have been pretty kind, I reckon." He shot Kirley a sharp, rare grin.

Myron handed off the cigarette without thinking, instead curling his fingers into a fist for the minute it took Kirley to have a drag. "Twenty-five is a bit painful," he agreed. "But at least we won't have to stick to the muggle-friendly playlist." They had a decent number of songs which worked, and a few they could usually get away with if he let the words run into each other, but it did limit their UK audience these days.

He nodded, accepting the cigarette back and taking a few long puffs as they neared the pub. It looked busy, but not busy enough for it to be an issue. There were a few people gathered around the outside tables, smoking and talking with pints balanced between them. Joining the throng, Myron handed the cigarette across to Kirley and waited for him to finish it off before they went inside.

"Christ, can you imagine?" He leaned back against the brick wall of the pub, watching his friend with a faint smirk. "Actually, you probably can." He was kind of glad he hadn't arrived to be greeted by one of his own progeny. As far as he knew from Savannah, he had remained kid-free.

"It's a good number for an intimate jam session. Not so good for some of the songs we have in our back catalogue." They had a good number of songs that worked well in small crowds, along with a number that worked best in arenas filled with screaming fans. "The ones we've been working on should be okay for a Muggle audience. Anything that's not quite mundane can be written off as artistic expression. There's plenty of examples of the fantastical in Muggle music, art, literature. We'll be eccentric, that's all."

He could feel the anticipation build as they neared the pub. He'd almost forgotten what it was like to be in a crowd of people, mostly strangers, drinking and laughing and making friends. There wasn't a whole lot of that at Hogwarts, at least not like this. Not a bit of fun meant to last an evening and leave nothing but vague memories of what had transpired.

"Oh fuck. I never thought of that. Thank Merlin Savannah seems smart enough not to have had kids. I don't know if I could handle being both the father of a grown woman and a grandfather." He rarely even thought of himself as a father at all when it came right down it. "You were the smart one. No kids, just lots of gorgeous women."
