Re: Padma and Harry
"You scare me, Potter." She was only half-teasing and she didn't mean because he was such a powerful wizard. "There is desperate and then there is desperate," she pointed out, knowing it was fruitless to try to instil some sense of caution into the man, but unable not to try anyway. Padma shook her head. "I'm going to laugh if we do figure out the impossible and there's nothing for you to slay. Just warning you now."
She rolled her eyes. "Colour me surprised," she said drily, letting her tone say all she needed to about Harry Potter and his relationship with sharing information. He was just lucky she didn't have the same inclination or they wouldn't be having this conversation or the numerous others she anticipated they would have to have as more information was discovered. And, he apparently listened as well as he shared. "I will look into creating a specific spell in case it's needed. But, I also just said that it would be detectable by any of the more high-powered diagnostic spells, of which I can think of at least two that should be in the repertoire of an auror and an additional two in that of a cursebreaker."
Padma shook her head again. "So, start outside. I'm not telling you where to start or not start. I'm telling you what I know and what I think is possible. You're the one doing the searching. I'm not going to tell you how to do your job any more than I'd appreciate you telling me how to do mine. Start outside. Start with the diagnostic spells you know. I'll see if I can come up with something specific to the veil gate in absentia. In the meantime, I've got a few more people to talk to before getting back to work and I'm sure there are others waiting to talk to you."
