Re: Savannah/Jamie
Jamie looked pointedly at her, then down at his arm where she'd grabbed it, then back at her and raised an eyebrow.
Sighing, he shook his head. "After I just got him to accept that we didn't have to give everyone the day off because it was Lilu's birthday," he muttered. "Savannah, if you make his birthday a holiday, even if you don't parade him around, you make a day that should be about him more about what everyone expects from him. That's all he'll see. His birthday should be about him and the fact he people who care about him are glad he's there, not about how much the rest of the world needs him to do the things they can't or won't."
He put his hands in his back pockets. "What if we picked a different day? What he stands for has manifested in any number of actions that could still symbolize hope and hold him up as a leader, without taking one of the few private things he has away from him. The day the D.A. was founded, maybe. That, more than anything symbolizes his work as a leader, bringing together people who would do the work, just like he talked about today. And it would appeal to him, as well, because despite everything, he's always been the first to say he didn't do any of this alone. And he didn't. He found a way to defeat Tom Riddle. But, it was the D.A. that was here, in this castle, fighting to protect their generation from the death eaters who'd taken over."
