Lily wasn't at all surprised that James noticed the basket. "Yes, I had the house elves pack up a few things since I didn't want to eat in the hall," she responded with a laugh. She was certain that the house elves, remembering how James could be, packed extra just in case she would be sharing with her husband.
"It doesn't help that the mandrakes are already getting into their rebellious teenage phase," she mentioned. "They've been antagonizing the Venomous Tentacula, which doesn't make my job any easier." Lily idly wondered if dealing with moody mandrakes was good practice for dealing with human teenagers, although she wasn't going to bring that up to James.
"Oh..." She stared at the dirt in his hand and just looked defeated. "I should clean up. Don't eat all the food on me."
