RP: Dinner out
Who: Anyone
When: Evening 14th May
Where: the Steak and Co. restaurant at the corner of Irving Street and Charing Cross Road, near Leicester Square
What:

- The 'ministry' is footing the bill for everyone
- They got there around 6:30, looked around for a bit and decided on this restaurant since it could sit all of them.
- They are split in 2 tables (you guys decide who was sitting with you, just average it out 11 and 14, because you don't sit 13 at a table).
- They finished around 8:30.
- They walked around for a bit in small groups and then went back to the Leaky. From there, they Disapparated to Hogwarts.

"They do! It's wonderful. We've had a weird week and a half, with the burned journals and all, so this is good." She nodded at the question. "Yes. Nothing against the house-elves--their food is wonderful--but I've really missed the restaurant experience, and this is a good one as far as that's concerned. I'm looking forward to dessert too. The hot chocolate looks amazing."

She turned a bit so she could more easily see him, rather than craning her neck to the side. "Did you and Jamie have an eventful trip to Diagon the other day?" She hadn't had a chance yet to ask Jamie how it had gone, so she'd be interested to see what Harry had to say about it if anything.

Harry laughed at her answer, because he wasn't sure that the past ten days were weird. "I think we've had a weird few months." Or decades in his case but he knew that it was hardly the case for everyone. "I wasn't much for the restaurants. Kreacher was decent and the wizarding restaurants had wizards. If I had to go to a Muggle one, it was mostly a pub." As long as they had good beer and whiskey, the food was secondary.

He grinned. "We did. I was waiting for people to enjoy the weekend, before sending out an announcement, but we got a clue. We're not sure what it means just yet and I want Padma to analize it to see if there's something that we aren't missing, but hopefully once people know, they can give input." He had shown great restraint, but Jamie had wanted to study the stone tablet before handing it off and he knew that once he said something, he'd have to send it to Padma. It wasn't that he didn't trust her, but he understood what it was like to want to do it yourself and if Jamie wanted to study it he'd give him the chance.

"I think we'll go back starting Monday, trying to see if we can find something else. We'll have to go back to every building, because apparently we hid the clue in a clue in a clue. It'll be time consuming, but at least that's something I can do." It was fun too.

"Well, all right, that's a fair assessment," she agreed, with a small laugh. She leaned back in her chair, balancing it on two feet for a moment, before settling again. She always got a little bit antsy if she had to sit for too long, but she didn't want to cause a scene in such a nice place so tried to control the urge to do it again. "I generally liked noisier places, with a group of friends, but this is nice." She knew exactly why he'd preferred a pub, but decided for the sake of peace not to mention it.

She gave him a sad face, though there was a hint of a smile to show she was joking. She liked that he was allowing Jamie a chance to study it, even if she didn't know what it was. That was good progress and a good sign that he hadn't demanded things be done his way. "You're being very mysterious! How am I supposed to wait for the big reveal!?" She grinned again, hoping he would catch on that she wasn't being totally serious. Studying artifacts or whatever was very much Jamie's expertise and not hers.

"You guys seem to be making good progress though! That's excellent. And hiding clues within clues within clues is very on-brand for you guys, so I'm not surprised."

"Nothing noisier than a pub during a football game," Harry answered, knowing that for a fact. "I liked watching the reactions from the fans, even if I wasn't in the game. It's not as exciting as Quidditch." He smiled a little. "My group of friends is Ron and Hermione. We can do the pub together so we don't have to deal with wizards."

Harry snorted. "It's not mysterious at all. It's a stone tablet, but your brother thinks that there might be more and since I got to have some fun, he can have some fun studying it. Then he can pass it to Padma. There's just a sentence inscribed on it. A long time ago, in a far-off land, there lived a foolish king who decided that he alone should have the power of magic. It's from the Tales of Beddle The Bard. That much I know. I just don't know what it means."

He shrugged "I just wish we had made it a little easier. I honestly don't know how random people should have found it, but we're here so I guess that's part of my new job."

"Only if it's a pub in Manchester and Manchester is losing," she agrees. "That's still football-related though, just twice the noise level as a regular football match." Not that she'd watched a lot of football. Quidditch was definitely more interesting. "Well, now that you're Minister and dealing with wizards is sort of your job, you can still use the pub to get away. If this goes well, I mean."

A stone tablet. That was interesting, and she tended to trust Jamie when he had hunches about things. "If there's something hidden, Jamie will find it," she said, her voice full of confidence. "That's from Babbity Rabbity. Why would you have put that on anything?" It didn't make sense, but then it wasn't her job to figure it out. "Nevermind. Jamie will figure it out, or if he can't then maybe Padma can." Padma was very smart.

"I guess we won't know your reasoning, but you'll figure it out." With a little bit of luck anyway.

"I guess you never watched the North-London derby in a pub," he said with a snort. "Arsenal fans are much worse than the Spurs, although Chelsea fans can join them too." It was always interesting to watch two of the major London teams go against each other. "There aren't that many wizards to want to run away." Okay, there was and he had, but there was the castle to deal with.

He nodded. "It is and I have no idea why it's there. It doesn't mean anything to me." If he'd pick a tale, it wouldn't have been that one. "We might not even know until we get more clues, but at least we found something. It's better than sitting there and finding nothing."

He knew that she was right, not because he was the smartest, but because he wouldn't stop until he found the solution. "We'll find that vault."

"Since you know way more about football than I do, I'll take your word for it," she said, only following half of the teams. Even when she'd been in a pub and football had been on, she'd watched the people more than the game and rarely took notice of what teams were playing. "Are you sure about that? You don't sound sure."

She considered that. "Maybe that was done intentionally, for some reason." She couldn't think of one, but maybe he could. "Finding something is always better than finding nothing, even if it doesn't make sense." She had full faith in Jamie though. He'd make sense of it. Eventually.

"I know we will. Never had any doubts."

"I'm sure," he said, chuckling. "Even if I wanted to, I'm pretty sure that Draco would follow, and of course Ron and Hermione, and then I'd have to tell Mum and Dad, who'd probably share with the Marauders and so on and so forth. By the time we're done, everyone would know, so it's useless."

Harry shrugged. "Probably. It's what Jamie thinks. I think that it's your Aunt Hermione assuming that people are a lot smarter than they are. She thinks it's easy, while everyone else thinks it's close to impossible, but lucky for us, it is us looking for clues, so when we have all of them, I'm sure we'll know." He knew what she said might sound stupid to some, but he agreed wholeheartedly. "Exactly and we'll find more."

He grinned. "Good to know that you have faith in us. Now we have at least two more, but I have a feeling that there are more. That can't be the only one in Diagon Alley."

"You make them sound like little ducklings!" She smothered a giggle, rather unsuccessfully, but it was rather appropriate. Harry was the mama duck, and where the mama duck went, so did Ron and Hermione. "But yeah, it does sound like sneaking off to avoid people is rather defeated when you tell the people you're going to avoid that you're sneaking off."

She considered that. "Both sound like equally plausible explanations." Aunt Hermione always did think that everyone around her should keep up with her brain. Not a bad thing, but could lead to some complicated situations like this one. "It'll probably be the most obvious thing when they're all together. Oh! Maybe there's an order to them and you just found like clue number twenty instead of clue number one." That would make sense, but hopefully she'd overestimated the number of clues there were.

"Of course I do. You don't know how to admit defeat, and you're definitely not going to let the one to defeat you be you."

Harry looked at his friends who were busy talking to each other with a smile on his face. "Hardly. They are the best friends I could have asked for. There's absolutely no one like them. They've put their lives on the line since we were eleven and they will always be in my corner, just like I'd be there for them. I'd never try to sneak off from them." He looked at Lily. "Do you have someone like that? OR did you?"

He snorted. "There won't be twenty plus clues, because as brilliant as she is, even Hermione loses her patience like every good Gryffindor, and Ron and I would have lost our patience long before she did." Especially if everyone around them was dying. That thought sobered him up. "No, it'll be less than that, but I agree that we'll need to get a few to make sense of it."

Her logic made sense. "Defeat doesn't lead to anything good, does it? We fight to make things better, so I guess you're right: we keep going until we find all the clues." He imagined that everyone in his position would do the same. "What about you? Are you happy with your choice to work with Remus?"

"Hey, ducklings are adorable. That wasn't an insult! I know how much they mean to you." She and her siblings all did; they'd always known just who came first for Harry, but that was a subject for another time entirely. Tonight was for only happy things. "Jamie and Al are those people for me. I had friends, a lot of really good ones, but no one is more important than my brothers."

She snickered again. "All right, fair enough. It's a good thing it wasn't up to me. I'd have gotten bored after one or two clues maximum." Although, at the rate they were going maybe that would have been better. "Okay, that's a relief. The idea of twenty clues was just too much!" If she had to make an actual guess, she'd say somewhere between five and ten, edging closer to five. It'd be interesting to see if she was close.

"I've never known it to, so there's really only the one choice that's already been made." She grinned at the question. "Yes! It's actually pretty fun, and I've been practicing my Goobledegook and Mermish with Professor Dumbledore, so I shouldn't offend anyone when we do make contact with them."

"Ducklings are younger and less experienced and it shows an imbalanced power. Not sure I'd have survived without Hermione and they aren't less important than me." He shrugged. "I guess it feels wrong, because they were as important in destroying Voldemort as I was." Harry had no idea what it was like to have siblings, so he didn't know if it was the same or different. "It's good that they are here, then." He briefly wondered about Ron and his siblings, but he was sure that Ron would put him and Hermione first, even though he loved his brothers.

"Probably that's how long it took me and Ron to get bored," he said, chuckling. "That's why we have Hermione to keep us on task. We'll see what we end up with, though."

He could see how excited she was about the job, although the idea of learning languages sounded so boring. "French was too complicated for me. Oui was just about my limit. Poor Fleur gave up quickly. I'm glad you like it. I would have gone with English and possibly still managed to offend them, so you're already doing better than me."
