"I know, but I can guess what I did, or at least the motivation behind my action, even if I wasn't there, but you are right, in the end, it's my guess and you need to trust that my guesses are right." Harry let Jamie hug him, not getting the claustrophobic feeling he tended to get, but he kept looking at his son. "Trust me that no matter my age, I would never not want you."
He smiled. "Draco does make me happy, but it's more than just Draco. Coming here, having something else to do, a new purpose, it's been good. I don't do well with boredom." He still wasn't sure that there was much of his life that his children needed to know, but he didn't argue. "Then I'm glad you have those memories."
Harry wasn't so sure about the rest. He could see why hiding away was his own way to keep them at bay, protecting them in the process. "Maybe not, but I'd have tried. I don't have to try now. You're grown up, all three of you and you turned out pretty all right. Even if you aren't Aurors," he said, with a tiny smile. "That was a joke, in case it wasn't obvious, but you never have to protect me. It's my job to protect you." He turned so he could face Jamie and put a hand on his shoulder. "You shouldn't have, but thank you for doing it, for protecting your brother and sister."
The rest was strangely harder to deal with. "In the end, we have conjectures and we have to make decisions based on guesses and my instinct tells me that this is it." The news about Padma was hardly surprising. "I don't know this older version, but I know Padma, I know all the DA members. They will do what needs to be done, no matter how hard it is. I have complete faith in her."
He chuckled. "Hey no one has tried to kill us yet, it can't be that bad." He patted Jamie's knee. "All right, we should go. Why don't you keep the tablet and we'll keep this our little secret so you can study it? After that, we'll end it off to Padma and we bring this up with everyone. A few more days won't change anything."
