Draco blushed slightly, feeling a bit ridiculous over his outburst. He hadn't quite realized how strongly he felt about it until Potter had pushed.
"Right. Overreation. Maybe I care about it more than I said." He let out a long breath. "I don't want to think about them because I don't like thinking about the things I can't control. I want them here, but I also don't want them pulled from their lives. Its complicated. But I don't have to explain that to you, you already know."
He looked back over at Harry, smiling sardonically. "It would probably have been better for them if I let them fail."
He hadn't expected the next question, though it shouldn't have surprised him. Just because Draco knew every person who crossed Potters path didn't mean that he had been paying as close attention to Draco.
"Theo. Pansy. Blaise, sometimes. Daphne and Astoria, when they're allowed. Mostly Theo and Pansy though. I suppose they're my Weasley and Granger. Though I would never say that to them. I wouldn't want to insult them like that." His smile was teasing, and hopefully Potter wouldn't take it personally.
