"I suppose you're right, I can't blame you," Lily demurred, boldly eying her shirtless and freshly cleaned husband. She hated herself for squandering a prime opportunity to take advantage of alone time with James, but she knew that if they didn't talk now, she might never get up the nerve.
"It's not all bad," she promised. Waiting until he sat down, Lily settled herself next to him, offering James a soft smile.
There was a time recently where the expression that came to his face at her mention of Peter would have confused her - before she learned the truth. Seeing the way he frowned, Lily lightly rested her hand on his knee. "Should I start with the perplexing conversation I had with Peter, or the more interesting one I had with Sirius?"
She felt giving him the choice would help with her approach to the subsequent discussions.
