Marlene uttered a few small sobs while letting herself be pulled into a hug and for the moment allowed herself to feel the swell of her aching heart. So much loss was hard to fathom. Not just her own, but all the witches and wizards, their families and dearest friends. Death was a part of her work, and not everyone could be healed. Not every friend in the field could be saved, but she had learned long ago how to cope with the losses. Still, right now it was her loss and it stung, and the grief was crippling.
"It's an awful lot," she said taking Peter's arm once again. "It wasn't decades ago for me, it was just about to happen," she said feeling like a failure. Her whole family gone, herself too, but that came with being in the Order. That was a chance they all had to take and anything could happen. But her parents, her brothers and the guests in her family line... All gone in one fell swoop.
Marlene didn't know what she wanted to do or where she should go but she did know one thing for sure, "I'd like to see Lily," she said pushing forward. "Where to stay I can figure out later, right?"
