"Perfect image?" Jamie snorted. "More like impugned their honour. It may not mesh with most wizards', but Goblins have a code of honour. And you three trampled all over it." Chuckling, he cast the other man a tiny smirk. "Uncle Charlie still hasn't let you for it, either. Any holiday Grandma Molly can actually get him to come home, he brings it up. But, yeah, that one's pretty common. The Ragnok Uncle Bill worked with retired a few years back. But, I think there were two in the younger generation who've started since I got the Goblin Hall assignment. This is probably one of them, whichever had lowest seniority by the time the curse hit."
Jamie leaned across the desk to jot some corrections onto his original draft while Harry spoke. He kept the dry diplomatic beginning, but interwove phrases like no longer doing only what's politically expedient, failed to do the right thing in the past and new era of building equality for all magical races into the central narrative. It was still diplomatic, but in a tone more in line with the intent. "See if that's better," he said, turning it back around for approval. "The Confederation is going to hear about it because when you send this to the Goblins, we'll also put out a press release in the journals, informing the world of your intent and including a joint statement from you and Remus about how this is just a first step in a series of planned reforms aimed at bringing the magical races of Britain closer together. That way you also show the Goblin you're serious, that this isn't some secret agreement you'll push under the rug, but something you're ready to stand behind long term."
He raised an eyebrow. "Take the credit when you can get it," was his reply, accompanied by a shrug. Jamie wondered briefly if his brother had gotten the job for the same reason Jamie had been assigned to this task, but didn't persue that line of thought. It was something that would be a good fit for Al, no matter the reason. "Considering the Confederation's dim view of the experiments to begin with and the...heavy-handed manner in which they're being pursued, a lack of trust wouldn't surprise me in the least. The international protest is, or was, as strong as the local protests. Britain's international standing took a nose dive when the experiments were approved. Economic sanctions is a phrase that's been bandied about heavily since before my birthday." He grinned as Harry went on. "The cousins are all still alive? That's brilliant. Yeah, the kids are several years younger than Lilu and we didn't see them as often as the Weasley cousins. But, we know them. I'm pretty sure Violet's got a baby crush on Al...well, had I guess. She's got to be...oh hell, they're probably our same age now or close to. Give him my regards when you see him, yeah?"
