I'm giving you a heads up before I track down Sirius. I need to talk to him, even though he's been avoiding me lately. Once, I do, though, I don't think he'll want to be around me for awhile. He's likely to be upset and he'll need you to be there for him.

I'll explain more when I can. This is just something I really need to talk to Sirius about first.

Remember how I was going to be careful with Sirius? I fucked up. I'm going to talk to him, but you know how he gets. He probably won't want to let me help him. If he lets you, will you help him fix the mess I've inadvertently made?

No, I'm happy. Full stop. Just happy.

Am I happy that the cause of my happiness is something that will hurt Sirius? No, of course not. The last thing I'd ever want to do is be the one to cause my friend pain. But, the only thing I can do about that is try to lessen the pain as much as I can without giving up something that makes me truly happy.

I was afraid of that. He's been avoiding me ever since, but I was a bit too preoccupied with the other Black avoiding me out of embarrassment to put two and two together until yesterday. I'd be amused at the similarity of the reactions if I wasn't certain both of them might hex me for pointing it out! You might have to get used to that look from fifth year, though, because I don't think it's going away any time soon.

I know James will be his first thought. I gave James a heads up without telling him what's wrong because I want to tell Sirius first. But, I think, since his feelings for James are also part of the problem, especially with Lily being back, you might actually be better for him than either James or I can be, no matter how many times I know I'll end up repeating "I'm still your friend and that's not going to change".

And you worried more about the other Black. I would certainly not point that part out or Sirius might hex you twice. I'm glad though. I don't get it. He seems so stuck up, but I trust your instincts and whatever makes you happy.

I would probably be better, but you know Sirius and better don't always get along. Besides, I don't think James and Lily see the problem. They think they are just their for their friends, but instead- What is that this new generation says? They are enabling him? That's exactly it and it'll end up blowing up in their faces.

I'm smitten, you prat, not stupid. It's not instincts, though. It's taking the time to talk to him, to get to know him. Honestly, he's no more arrogant than Pads or Prongs. But, I am happy. Somewhat dazed and surprised. But, happy.

I think James and Lily think they are taking care of him. But, it's only going to end up hurting him in the end. It's why I have to talk to him today. I don't want to hurt him, but it'll be better for him in the long run. And, you're a good friend, Peter. He'll need you, whether he admits it or not.

Don't they say that love makes you do stupid things? I'm just pointing out the obvious so you don't get hexed. That, and I'm taking the piss, because I've never seen you like this. Yeah I'm not sure comparing him to Sirius and James is a good thing, but I'm really happy for you.

I know and I'm not blaming them. I'm also not in a position to tell them to stop, but it will backfire. We'll see. Now go do whatever you have to do.
