"Exactly, because we should accept genocide without blinking." If it weren't so sad, it'd be laughable. "I don't understand how he can ignore it. I could almost understand for people like Dumbledore, because everyone he knows would be dead anyway due to age, but not the rest." He squeezed her shoulder while kissing her cheek. "You're right, we're lucky that there are some normal people or this society would be doomed." He snorted. "I didn't know you were a prude! I said hitting on him and not that I'd have my wild way with him."
Scorpius raised his eyebrow. "You can't mention problems and then say you can't talk about it. So what's the scoop, my darling? Is he in love with his best friend too? Tell me that we have the potential of a Greek tragedy. It's been so boring here, maybe that will liven up things."
He didn't say that most of the century's gossip revolved around one Harry Potter. Even Lilu and her brothers were only relevant because they were his children. Instead he just shrugged. "Sure, he had me, but he's a gay man who married a woman and was never in a relationship. No matter how much he loves me, it must have been a very lonely existence so I'm glad that he's getting the change to have the love of his life." He nodded. "I'm sure they will, because your father is the hero and love conquers all and they lived happily ever after and I refuse to consider any other possibility for them."
Scorpius hadn't actually thought about it in that light. He just figured that it was the job with the least long term commitment and a practical impact right now. "Right, yes I can see that, and there might be some shifts soon, with openings, but I'll be happy to sit down with you and talk about the choices. Although it really does boil down to a lot of Ministry jobs."
