"Yeah, it's bloody weird how everyone ignores that. Oh, everyone we know is dead. Cheers, pass the firewhiskey. They literally talk about it like death is normal, and hey it's not like there was a war, let's focus on the really important stuff." He shook his head, because they were all mental as far as he was concerned. "And pray tell, what's so terrible about me hitting on Jamie? Other than he's terribly straight. Terribly if you ask me."
Scorpius raised an eyebrow. "Is it? Why is that, my sweet darling? What did you learn from being Sirius Black?" It had to be that because she hadn't been around long enough to know about social dynamics. "And they are cute, and he really needs to get laid. He makes my grandfather look super relaxed."
He blew her a kiss. "What can I say? My attention span is limited to this century." He took a bit of his food and then turned back to her, looking alive from glee. "Okay, so facts 1: my dad has been in love with your dad since forever. Fact 2: your father has always had a thing for my dad. Fact 3: they were leaving that memorial together. This is where it becomes conjecture since no one knows from sure, not even them. I think they got together after that, then something happened, maybe a fight, who knows. Your father knocked up your mother and he wouldn't let her abort it, so they broke up, but they had terrible lives because they have never stopped being in love with each other." It was terribly romantic if one didn't consider how fucked up their lives were because of it.
"Everything right now is long term," he said. "Unless you want my job, which you can happily have. I'll find something else. On the other hand, you are talented and you aren't going anywhere. Commitment is all we have when the castle won't even let us leave."
