Remus and food had an interesting relationship these days. In the last three years, he'd become accustomed to eating whatever he could as fast as he could because he never knew when the next meal was coming. After arriving in this time, he'd had to remind himself, while watching everyone else, that he could take time to chew and taste his food. He didn't always remember that, often eating even faster than Regulus was at the moment.
And, as it wasn't the food he wanted to be savouring the taste of just then, it took some effort to force himself to eat at a normal pace while Regulus talked about incredible things like having a them and a future where they might still be together, putting James and Lily's relationship to shame. "You keep talking like that and you might even get me to start believing in a chance to be someone," he said with a self-deprecating chuckle. That was the hardest thing to wrap his head around in this time, that his future self had meant something to the magical world. "I'm not sure what he thinks can be improved upon. It's a miracle as it is and I've only had it once. But, far be it from me to tell Severus Snape what to do with a potion."
Raising his eyes back to Regulus' he grinned slowly. "Doesn't need elaborate. Simple is often the best," he said, spearing a bite of sausage with his fork. "Simple like you and me," he continued, his voice going whiskey hoarse without his own notice, "nothing between us but sweat, pinning you down while I get a taste of you." He brought the fork to his mouth and smoothly wrapped his lips around it, taking his time pulling off the bite of food there.
