Re: James & Lily
"Yup," James nodded, taking another drink. "Tall ginger bloke who isn't Ron." He couldn't spot him any more though... maybe he'd already shown his face and left again. James got the impression he was that kind of person.
"I'm not surprised by anything Sirius does anymore," James laughed, placing his glass back down. A part of him wondered where his friend actually had gotten to... was he okay? After their conversation the other day things had seemed a bit better, but James had never been able to completely shake the protective sense of responsibility he felt for Sirius.
"I reckon you'll be able to pick, if there's something you'd like to do." He shrugged, running his thumb over Lily's knuckles thoughtfully. The whole job thing was pretty strange full stop. James' inheritance had been enough to keep him and Lily comfortable for life, so he'd just joined the Order. He probably would have found a job eventually if things had been different, but it would have been more for enjoyment than necessity.
"What kind of thing would you have done back home?" He continued. "You could join me in the MLE! Or there's research, creature relations with Moony... or teaching, when the school opens? You'd be good at all of those."
"Why do you need me around to hold down a job?" James joked, his brow creasing in a look of feigned concern. Still, the comment did make him think.. he'd wanted a big family eventually. Perhaps it was growing up as an only child, but he'd always liked the idea of Harry having brothers and sisters. Having them here, however... was that doable?
"We've got plenty of time here to figure it out, anyway."
