Re: James & Lily
"Well, I'm pretty sure I saw Dumbledore in here when we came in," James grinned, turning to peer over his shoulder to see if he could spot him again. It was still odd to see the younger professor... there was a weird disconnect between him and the silver haired headmaster he knew back home.
James turned back to Lily, his smile softening as he found her face close to his again. "Now you mention it, I'm pretty sure I saw Sirius cutting eyeholes in a newspaper earlier..."
Thankfully, the other two had apparently moved on from those days. The novelty of Lily actually agreeing to talk to James, let alone go out with him, had worn off for the rest of the student population after they'd been dating for a while. James himself, however, still was sure the whole thing was something of a miracle...
He turned his hand over under hers, interlocking their fingers on the table. He kind of wished she would stop biting her lip like that - it was very distracting.
"I know," he agreed. "It feels like we're always forgetting something, doesn't it?" James turned his glass in his free hand, glancing down at the ring of condensation it left on the wood. "Still, he's here. That's the important bit. Even if it is all wonky."
He bit back a sigh, then shot Lily a smile. "I would ask what we did before we had Harry, but the answer's 'annoying Death Eaters', isn't it? So what do normal couples do all day, when there's not a war on?"
