He started walking away, hands shoved deeply into his pockets.
"She, um, she seemed nice." He said, in response to what she'd said before. "I, I didn't, I didn't really know her. Cassandra. But, uh, yeah. She seemed nice. It's a shame."
He relaxed slightly the farther they got away from the crowd. He knew it wasn't a crowd in the real sense of the word, he'd been thrust into the middle of actual giant crowds BJ's entire life, but he still didn't like it when everyone at the castle was gathered in one place. It felt stifling in a different way to the giant groups of faceless masses. Al couldn't disappear fully into this crowd. There was always someone who would notice him. He didn't like that.
"Did you, um, did you have a, a nice, morning?" As far as small talk went it was pretty pathetic, but Al knew he had a habit of letting conversations die before they began and he really did want to make an effort with Lily.
