"He was approaching his one hundredth birthday the last I saw him, and hadn't slowed down one bit," Lilu said, then had to blink past tears as she thought of the big man, though Merlin knew he'd had blinders as giant as he was where her father was concerned. Still, she loved him dearly and wished he was here. "Hogwarts doesn't seem right without him and Tiny taking care of the grounds and keeping the keys." She hoped Hogwarts would bring him back; if the castle was going by who made an impact, he was definitely on the list to her way of thinking. "Tiny was his dog, and basically a cross between a dog and an elephant, and it's possible he bred it himself through, uh, interesting means, but we won't talk about that."
She giggled. "Oh, I absolutely agree. It wouldn't surprise me if the old thing had been here since Hogwarts was built, honestly." That was probably hyperbolic, but without actually knowing how long the squid had been in the lake, it was possible she wasn't wrong.
"So, this is wild, right? The whole thing going on with the castle, arriving and then immediately becoming someone else. I feel like I can't get a grasp on the situation, you know what I mean?" She and Lily had arrived basically at the same time, or at least she thought they had, which was weird all on it's own, and something to theorize about later. "Are you settling in okay? I think I am, except for the whole figuring out a job thing." And coming to terms with everyone being dead, but she got around that by just not thinking about it. Not the healthiest coping skill in the world, but at least one she came by honestly.
