"No, you don't," Peter said, with a chuckle. "Just because you had my memories, it doesn't mean that you actually know, the same way I don't know what Padma is going through at the moment. We have ideas, conclusions based on the memories and who we are, but not who the other person is, and thank Merlin for that. I'd be terrible if we became photocopies of each other."
He put his journals and hands in his pockets and looked at Ron as they walked. "Are you rushing to talk to the person that had your memories?" he asked, although from observations people seemed to avoid the ones who did have their memories.
Peter nodded. "It is. She deserves to be remembered by the real people and not whoever happened to have the right memories. but in the end memorials are for the survivors. I remember Mum going to my father's grave every year on the anniversary of his death. We honor the dead, she'd say, but really it just made her feel better."
