Lily genuinely believed that Sirius putting in an appearance could be just the thing to cut through the awkwardness. While she appreciated the chance to get to know her grandchildren in a controlled environment, she vastly preferred learning about people on their terms. And it was becoming obvious that those terms definitely weren't through the lunches.
"Clothes too, darling. No need to frighten the children."
She delivered the comment in a lightly drawling tone, making it clear that she was joking. She just hoped Sirius hadn't forgotten about her strange sense of humor.
"I want to just take solace in knowing that Harry survived and even thrived without us, but I'm having trouble getting my head wrapped around him not being a child anymore." She smiled softly at Sirius. "Have you already come up with a plan on how to live this new life of yours?"
