"Freaking out won't change anything," Lily pointed out. She'd been telling herself that ever since her conversations with both Harry and James, and yet somehow she was still having trouble believing it. The urge to just scream until she lost her voice was rising.
"I know, Sirius. They aren't small at all. James died protecting Harry and I, and then I died protecting Harry..." Lily could feel tears starting to fill her eyes at the thought of her child alone, after having to witness that.
"It's something both James and I were prepared for. At least, that's what we told ourselves. I'm pleased that my sacrifice was able to protect Harry, however I just wish he could have grown up with people who loved him and would have helped to make sure that he was ready for anything."
