"Remus couldn't help echoing Sirius' expression right along with James. His own mind had recoiled at the thought of men getting pregnant. And cloning. And asexual reproduction. And everything. "For once, I have to agree with the purebloods. How anyone could have thought it was a good idea is beyond me. It sounds like a knee-jerk reaction. They were so opposed to the extremist ideas of the purebloods who followed Voldemort that they decided anything muggle must be good."
Sighing, he stuck his finger in to save his place again and raised his head to look at his friends. "It spread too quickly. It only took a couple years to wipe out the entire wizarding population of Britain. England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, even the Isles. The continent closed the borders, no one in or out. You know what it was like during the war. Voldemort was a British problem. It doesn't sound like that changed with the second. And with this? They couldn't risk it becoming a larger problem. I do think, once we can be certain the hex is no longer at work, one or two of us should try going over there, see if they succeeded in stopping this at the border. The fact they haven't come to clean out magical areas, or start re-inhabiting them, makes me suspect they either haven't been looking or haven't found any of the answers we need. If they thought it safe to be in this country, they'd have started pillaging already. Unless they've just simply forgotten all about it, us."
He was hoping for that last one. Out of sight, out of mind was a better prospect than the possibility the hax was still active and they'd been brought back by the castle only to die again.
"You'll have to go back to the Hospital Wing and look for her older journals, if you want unicorn horns or werewolf tails," he said, bumping James' shoulder. "I only grabbed the latest volume, figuring it would have the information we need."
