Entry tags:character: albus s. potter, character: regulus black

RP: Regulus/Al
Who: Regulus/Al
When: after breakfast April 9
Where: the hallways
What: who knows

Regulus decided that the best way to deal with the events of the past two weeks was to work. Everyone else seemed busy chatting, but Regulus had no one to talk to. There was half an idea to talk to Sirius, but that idea was dismissed just as easily, because he knew it would end up in some sort of argument. It was just easier to ignore him.

He finished breakfast and walked to the Wizengamot room. The only problem with that plan was that the Wizengamot was on the seventh floor on the other side of the castle, which mean he had to walked through the entire bloody castle. At least there weren't that many people around. He wondered how long people would try to avoid each other.

However on his way to his office, he saw Potter, the youngest. Normally he would have ignored him, but he'd actually dealt with this one while thinking that he was their grandfather. There had been hugs. It was truly terrible. "Albus, how are you?" he said, politely. "I promise that you can answer safely without repercussions of random hugs. I do apologise about that. Your grandparents are very touchy people, like most Gryffindors."

"Well I'm not sure I agree. Kirley probably did it, because he remembered that he did it. It was ...natural. Maybe it's just become your natural, you expect it to happen, people around you expect it to happen," Regulus said. "I mean I wouldn't recommend some of the techniques that would have been used in my time to make it stop, but if it's in your mind, then there's a way to end it. You just need to figure out what to do. Magic is marvelous like that."

Why in heaven's sake was he anxious? "You do know that life is just fine where you are from, yes? But if you are anxious there are potions. Take them, retrain your brain to speak normally like you did when you thought you were your brother, and you'll be fine. Unless you actually want to stutter," Regulus said.

He nodded. "The Hat finds traits that are strong in us, although I've decided that it stopped working in your generation. It's the only explanation that makes sense, because you wouldn't have lasted a day in Slytherin. Forget about the stutter, I can't even see your ambition, or being sly, or cunning. You seem as straightforward as every Gryffindor."

"Wow, there's, there's potions? And, and techniques? That's, that's brilliant. I never, I never tried any of that. Thanks for, for enlightening me." Albus rolled his eyes, not even bothering to hide his annoyance. Why did people always assume they knew everything about his life? Usually it was because they'd read about him in the papers since he was born, but Regulus hadn't ever done that. Apparently there was 'assume whatever the fuck you want' written on Al's forehead.

"And hey, you, you, got me. I'm a, I'm a terrible Slytherin. Terrible Gryffin, Gryffindor too. Yay you, you're so, so perceptive. Are we, are we done?"

"Oh look, reacting emotionally like a Gryffindor," he said, merely raising an eyebrow at the outburst, because unlike Albus, he did not get emotional. "If the castle could make you stop stuttering in an instance, you obviously haven't done enough to make it stop on your own, and if you have tried it, then you've tried the wrong one. Unless we're back to the fact that you enjoy being different from the other Potters, and then it is your doing."

He shrugged. "If it makes you feel better, the hat seems to have miscast an entire generation, with the possible exception of Savannah. She truly is a Hufflepuff." He smiled a little. "I am very perceptive, but please, do carry on. I'm sure you are life is full and fulfilling at the moment and you simply can't have a simple conversation that could help with your stuttering. Have a good day."

"Forgive me for, for not giving you the, the, the full rundown of my, my life. Feel free to, to think whatever you, you, you want."

He have Regulus a sarcastic little bow, then kept walking. He should have known better than to talk to him about this in the first place. Jamie was probably the only person who actually knew how many treatments and techniques Al had tried over the years, many thanks to Grandma Molly. He certainly didn't need a literal stranger telling him how he'd obviously done it all wrong or he'd be fixed by now. Fixed. Right. Screw him.
