"Well, it's certainly not mine," Jamie retorted with laugh.
"Grandpa James is cool. It'll be interesting to get to know Grandma Lily, now." He supposed it led weight to the nurture side of the nature versus nurture argument that he couldn't imagine how the two of them gave birth to his father. They hadn't been there, after all. "You're on. I'll even be nice block the inevitable hex one of them will send your way."
Sighing, he shook his head. "You're trying to figure out what reason an inanimate building that just swapped all our memories around like a shell game has for bringing any of us here?" he asked. He had to admit that she wasn't far wrong in her description of most of them. "Maybe it thought you'd be the one to hold everyone together...which you have. You and a bunch of helpless men, remember? You're the one who made them start coming together as a team instead of a bunch of random history book rejects working on the same project. Getting back what we had...? We're not even the same people we were four years ago. I count myself lucky you're willing to speak to me. But, I don't think you being here has anything to do with me or your dad. I think the fact that you're not as emotionally screwed up as the rest of us, but still able to stand toe to toe with us when necessary is more important."
