"Don't get used to it," he grumbled teasingly. "I'm still overwhelmed by my uncle's memories and several hard realizations. By tomorrow...maybe next week...it's back to smiles and walls, I bet." Jamie was joking, mostly. But, he also knew it was a lot easier to let his guard down when she already knew everything thanks to his sister's memories, than it ever would have been otherwise, if he still felt the need to present a politic face for the sake of the family. Even if he decided he should take her advice, actually bringing down the walls he'd built for most of his life wasn't going to happen overnight. "And not a proposal, but...maybe a bit of an overdue apology."
Sitting up proper again, he stretched his legs out and leaned back. "So..." he declared as he dropped his head back against the sofa, then turned to look at her with a better attempt at a smile. "Since my hang-ups and my family's issues aren't going to be solved in one conversation, how are you dealing with being Lilu for a week? Thinking your father was Al?" Too much of the conversation had become all about him and it was starting to make him twitch mentally. Besides, having to sit through family lunches with his family history in her head couldn't have been pleasant.
