"That's one way to learn something! I haven't made many major mistakes, but I also had help from a few people. Rita Skeeter, for one. She sent me a book, with detailed notes." Good old Rita, still trying to stay relevant. "And I have friends from Uagadou. Did you know they teach everyone to become Animagi there, if they want to learn? Hogwarts doesn't even offer it as an option."
She could sense his excitement, and she shared it too even if she was nervous as well. And still vaguely guilty that she'd somehow cheated her way to the transformation. All her hard work, and a few days spent as someone else and bam! Knowledge acquired. Still, she couldn't change that and wasn't going to ask someone to Obliviate her, so the only thing to do was go forward.
"Oh, Scarlet. She's harmless. Just a desperate old woman trying to remain relevant. She can spin a good tale though. I'll tell you more about my blog, and you can tell me about her zombie theory," she said, then squared her shoulders. "Okay, I'm going to try. Best stand back a bit. Tenderhoof will take up more space than I do."
She closed her eyes, did some of the breathing techniques Luna had taught her to become centered, and then reached for the inner part of her where Tenderhoof lived. When she opened her eyes again, she knew she'd done it. She tossed her head, feeling the thick mane of hair waving in the slight breeze. She'd actually done it!
