"And yet look at the names of the people around the Minister. They are the people he likes and trusts. It's human nature to turn to the ones you trust," he said with a shrug. He knew that Remus was brilliant, but he was an optimist. "Are you sure? Now that you are a big shot Department Head, will you still mingle with the commoners?" he teased. "Are we talking about the time magic or the spells the Ministry created? I think we'll have to look at the first just to figure out how to stop the tantrum. The second? I don't know. The newest generation has been talking about spells to have children, in the international world. So there are ways. If that was the only problem, it was solved. There was more at play here."
He shook his head. "I'm not sure. Maybe the castle gets the information, but nothing else. Ghosts are faint images of us. They can't really feel emotions. House-elves can, but with no one to command them, their emotions would be very flat. Maybe that's the key. It's not just knowledge and magic, but also emotions? Look at the people that are here. Hardly the most low key people around. It's almost like everyone is brought back to cause reactions in some way." He sighed. "I think we're also talking about the castle like a human being, but it's not. I'm not sure that the reactions can be interpreted strictly on human logic. Or maybe this was a warning shot. Next time, it might be worse."
He looked at Remus. "You were always the wisest and now even more." Peter nudged Remus' shoulder with his. "And we'll need you even more. Sirius and me, especially. James has Lily to help him out, but the three of us? We need to stick together. I didn't believe it when you said it, I thought that it was one of those things people say before they disappear, but here we are. I'm sorry for doubting you. I'm going to try and do better now, instead of hiding. Not very brave of me." He smiled. "You really must like him if you're sharing these things. Be careful. With Sirius, I mean."
Peter liked to think so. "Cassandra did say something similar and also said that I was being an idiot," he said, smiling at the memory. "She said in much nicer terms, obviously."
