"That first year must have been a Hufflepuff, because most Slytherins were glad not to be home," he answered with a grin, but he was also paying attention to what Severus was saying. "So this is something that no one, not even the castle has every experienced. The school is built on magic, but there has been no magic for eight years. Even then I suppose that the numbers were growing smaller. I can't blame it if it's sad."
He nodded. "On both counts, and he managed to survive too, but he was lucky. Narcissa lied to the Dark Lord, telling him that Potter was dead, to protect Draco. The Dark Lord cast the killing curse that backfired and kill him. In a way, the Dark Lord killed the Dark Lord."
Regulus chuckled. "I'm sure he was. He always wanted one of us to go into teaching, but alas we disappointed him. One died and the other went to Azkaban. Terrible of us." He went to the Slytherin table and sat down. The teacher's table was more appropriate for Severus, but Regulus wanted him to sit down without walking all the way up there. "Also the Carrows? I can't believe those two taught at this school. They could barely form complete sentences."
