Padma stifled a giggle. "Of course we have. And now you're in charge and people are doing it to you."
Tilting her head forward, she gave Parvati a look. "How would it help?" she asked with a slight edge of fond exasperation to her voice. "We may not be able to stop it. And I doubt we have the power to control it. But if we could figure it out, we might be able to anticipate it. To plan around it and maybe avoid having any more random disappearances. Wouldn't that be better than just living at the whim of a semi-sentient building? You're going to have to tell Severus his son was randomly sent back to die at the castle's whim. What happens when it decides it doesn't want someone else here? When you have to tell Scorpius it sent Roxanne back? Or what if it decides to send me or Jamie back? We need to know so we know the risks to everyone here."
Pursing her lips, she refrained from commenting on the drinking. "Honestly, Parvati. With your history? Of course you got married when you found out you were pregnant. You would have wanted to do right by the baby, give him the family you didn't have. But, it wouldn't have made you happy, being with Charlie. I think you're happier now with Scorpius. Your kids are old enough to understand that sometimes people don't make each other happy." She rolled her eyes. "Strong magic makes for strong personalities, which generally leads to drama and screwed up lives."
