RP: Savannah and Albus
Who: Lilu!Savannah and Jamie!Albus
When: 1 April
Where: going to lunch
What: Savannah is confused by this new thing

Savannah had arrived just yesterday and had met too many relatives. That part was even worse than the whole being back from the dead. That seemed almost normal when your mother is the Girl Who Lived Twice, just like it was normal that she had already been banned from doing her job. Permanently! She couldn't use the journals outside of the castle. What a bore!

Still none of that was as surprising as the fact that they were going to have lunch with her mother. "Just to be clear, this is every day?" she asked Albus. "And how long has been going on? I just want to see how long it'll take for her to get bored. Or drunk. Or too busy with something else."

She grinned. "And did I say that I'm glad you're here? You must have missed me terribly because I'm so very amazing."

To say Albus was glad to see Savannah was an understatement. He had tried very hard not to think about her too much, but knowing his little sister had died was more than he fully wrap his head around.

Albus had been so on guard since the day they got here, playing nice with everyone and trying to get the feeling for this new place. It didn't help that he and Parvati, he still wasn't sure about calling her mom, had gotten off on the wrong foot. Albus liked being in control of every situation, and this was anything but that.

"Of course I'm glad you're here. And yes, I missed you. What's life without a little chaotic sister energy!" He threw his arm around her shoulder and gave her a tight side hug.

"Lunch will be fine," he promised her, even though he was not at all sure of that. Still, it was his job to make this easier for her. "And I doubt this will end up being an every day thing. I can't imagine her caring for that long. This is only the second one, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's over the whole thing before we finish half the meal."

Savannah grinned before giving Al a very loud kiss on the cheek. What good was being the younger sister if she couldn't be obnoxious about it. "The castle knows that you and Kirley can't live without me around. You're terrible without me telling you what to do."

Right, second day, that was more like it. "I'm sure something will happen. Someone else will disappear, someone will reappear. There will be work to do although she sounded so convinced, something about her fathers being back, and it's so weird to have to grandparents who are my age. Also they hug a lot. Grandpa Regulus has hugged me three times in about ten minutes. They have hugged her and she calls them Dad and Papa, like she grew up with him. I'm still getting used to her being Mum. She looks too young and sounds too sober."

She sighed. "Do you remember her being sober? Was it something that happened before I got old enough to remember?"

Albus shook his head.

"No, I don't remember her being sober. Though she was less drunk I think, when I was younger. And you're right, the hugging is ridiculous!" He hugged her again, just to make a point. "What kind of crazy person goes around hugging their family all the time!" But it wasn't like Mum hugged them very often. And Kirley barely touched anyone. It had been up to Savannah and Albus to provide the physical affection in the family.

"The Grandpa's aren't so bad though. Grandpa Remus is a lot of fun, and he's pretty greet at Quidditch too! Wish you'd been there for the game, probably the only fun thing that's happened here so far. We'll have another one though, I'm sure. What else is there to do?"

"She's... sober," she repeated as if that was the strangest part of this new adventure. "And the way she looks at Draco." She shook her head. "If anyone should get together, I thought it'd be Roxanne and Kirley, and now-" She shivered. "I'll need to scrub my brain. Imagine if we'd been home. It's have been front page news for years. I still don't get it though. They got here and got together, but she only got married a few months later."

She didn't like what that meant for their family. Had their parents' marriage been a sham all along? "They never wanted to get married, did they? That's why they were never there, avoiding each other and us all the time. Why did they even bother having us?" They all knew that Mum had been pregnant when she had gotten married, but there were options and if she wanted to have the baby, she could have afforded it even without a husband.

"Do the grandparents know all of this?" That would have been a nice welcome. 'Hey, you were dead, your daughter was raised by people who hated her and turned out to be just a terrible parent'. "I guess well see how they are. It's freaky that Grandpa Regulus and I got here on the same day."

"She's sober," Albus agreed. "Mostly." He had smelled alcohol on her enough to know she wasn't completely sober, but she was certainly more sober than she'd been in their time.

He made a face at the mention of Scorpius, because really it was all very weird.

"Kirley was telling me that he and Roxanne have some sort of theory around them. Parvati and Scorpius. Some half and love story. It almost makes sense, which is the scariest part. But think about Vanna. We can all count to nine, and I was born before we hit that number. Kirley and Roxanne think they had some sort of fight, Mum slept with Dad, maybe even out of spite, I became a problem, they get married immediately. You know Mum always wanted a family, and wouldn't want the scandal. And Dad may have been absent but he'd still want to do the right thing. So, wedding. Scorpius gets married a few months later. The math works out, even if the whole idea is rather more radio drama than reality."

Albus nodded.

"Grandpa Remus knows, at least. I assume Grandpa Regulus does by now too. They're pretty alright. Makes you wonder, if they'd been alive..." Not that it mattered. If their Mum had grown up with parents then Albus, Kirley, and Savannah would never have been born.

"More than we've ever seen her, but I've just got here." She'd trust Albus on this, because she was sure that her brother was keeping an eye on things.

"It's... possible." She didn't like to talk about Albus' birth, because it had to be hard for their brother, even more so now. "You're not a problem. You have never been a problem." On the other hand, she thought that the whole idea sounded exactly like the type of drama that would happen in their family. Radio dramas took inspiration from their lives.

"That's got to suck. They had a baby and now they learn what a crappy parent that baby was." Savannah sighed. "This will get some time getting used to. I don't know if I want to feel sorry for Parvati."

"You don't have to feel sorry for her," he said, because his sister shouldn't have to forgive or understand or any of those things. It was Albus' job to take care of her, and he'd shield her from Parvati if it was necessary. "I don't." Well, that wasn't exactly true. But it was complicated and he didn't want to be the focus of this conversation. "She and I didn't exactly hit it off right away. But, I can tell she's trying. In her way. But just because she's trying doesn't mean you owe her anything."

"Except it's hard not to when you see so much, things we didn't see before, things we didn't know," she said. Maybe she was just emotional, but she remembered the days spent training. Other people might have thought it strange, but it had been time spent with her mother, when the entire focus on was Savannah.

"So you're not sorry, but maybe you are, but I don't have to, because-" Savannah stared at Albus. "Why is that? Because you're my older brother? That worked when I was young, but we're all adults now. You don't have to be the shield for all of us."

"Hey, you think something as trivial as age takes away my big brother powers? No way. Those are for life kiddo." He nudged her with an elbow, grinning.

"But you are an adult, as much as I hate to admit it. So, whatever you want to do, I'm behind you." Or in front of her, even if she didn't necessarily like it. Parvati had hurt them all enough, she wasn't going to get a second chance at his siblings.

"But I know what you mean. About it being hard. This isn't Mum, not the way we knew her, and she seems a lot more human now. And a lot less drunk." He raised an eyebrow. "So that has to count for something, right?"

"No, I think you don't have to do it alone. Kirley and I are here for you," she said, although she had no hope that Albus came to them for anything.

"Same. You know in case you decide that you want to do something completely reckless, I'm totally behind you. You could even become an influencer," she said, grinning.

Savannah nodded. "It does and she wants to have lunch with us daily." That was still strange. "Come on, let's get moving. We don't want to be late and leave poor Kirley alone."
