Where: 7th floor
What: another weird conversation between father and son

People were congregating on the 7th floor. It was the Ministry floor after all and it's where people would have been looking for answers. It was also where most of them worked and being here was a way to ensure that everything was all right.

Scorpius kept looking at Parvati. What if she disappeared? Why had people disappeared? Could he be the one to disappear and leave Parvati alone? The last one was a lot more possible, because he couldn't imagine a world in which the Girl Who Lived wasn't an important part of life.

When he saw his father come close to him, he tensed a little. He hated that he felt so conflicted with him. Draco had always loved his father, but he was so angry and now there was Roxanne to think about. "Father," he said with a false sense of calm. "What do you think it's happening?"

Albus had kept to the outskirts of the throng, watching and listening as they chattered and theorised amongst themselves, as if such talk would lead to much. As far as he saw it, they were vulnerable. To the other countries, to whatever had bought them here. Damn it, to whatever had wiped them all out in the first place...

He spotted Scorpius at the other side of the room and drifted towards him automatically. It had to be said, he was pleased to see his son was still here. Despite it all, the feeling of unease in the room was catching.

"I wouldn't know," he replied, casting another cool eye over the group, his nose slightly upturned. "They could have just decided to leave, for all anyone knows." He hadn't known any of the people who were missing, but from rhat he had seen they hadn't seemed particularly reliable.

Albus' gaze turned back to Scorpius, looking him up and down. "Unless you think it's something more ominous?"

Scorpius shrugged. "I don't know. I know Parvati thinks there's more to this, not because we have any proof, but her instincts have always been on the money." He knew this version of his father didn't like Parvati- scratch that, no version of his father had ever liked Parvati, not even when she had testified on their behalf.

"I'm not sure that all three decided to leave at the same time. Glenda and Cho, maybe. They don't have anyone here. One is a Muggleborn and the other lived and worked in the Muggle world. Maybe she went to find her family. But I can't imagine Teddy leaving. He has too many people here and he doesn't know the Muggle world," he said with a shake of his head. "And I don't think any of them would have managed to leave the country, not unless they are using Muggle means of transportation and once again, Teddy wouldn't know how."

Albus managed to keep his expression neutral at the mention of Parvati. His opinion was no secret, but there was little to be gained from mentioning it at present. Apart driving more of a wedge between himself and Scorpius, it seemed.

"Then perhaps whatever forces brought us here are behind it." He would have shrugged, if it wasn't utterly unbecoming. "In which case we should be looking at controlling the damage, so to speak."

It was ridiculous, really, to find themselve help to the whim of a castle. He turned to look at his son, almost curious. "Do they know what killed the seer?"

"Maybe." He hated that idea even more. "It's more than that, though, is it? If the castle can send us anywhere at any time, we can't be safe here. Nothing we create is stable." Nothing with Parvati might last and the idea was the worst thing he could imagine.

Scorpius hated talking about death, but he knew there was no avoiding this. "Ron was close to her and he said that she knew that a vision would kill her. She was expecting it. There doesn't seem to be any other sign of death, unless someone cast the killing curse and I can't imagine anyone here doing it," he said, not mentioning that if there was one person capable of doing it and not caring about it, it was his father. "As terrible as it is, that seems to be the most normal thing possible."

"Quite," Albus agreed shortly. That was the crux of it, wasn't it? In a way, it made things very clear. In such a perilous situation, you had to put yourself, and your family, first. There was no reason to trust such things to anyone else, including a twenty-something minister with no political experience.

If only things were so simple.

"I hope you're right," He said. The last thing they needed was that horrendous curse, virus, or whatever it was making a reappearance here. "Whatever happened, it's certainly got people talking. They'll want answers sooner rather than later."

"I know. With people dying, people disappearing, everyone will want to know what happened and how we stop it." Scorpius planned to spend extra time with Parvati to make sure that she was all right. it would be very easy to drink more than it was healthy.

"Anyway I probably should go. We still have to train." In fact, it might have just gotten a lot more important to train. "Who thought I'd end up in the MLE?" At least not when there were not aspiration of political advancement. "I'll see you later."
