Re: James | Remus
Remus matched James' raised eyebrow with one of his own. "Raise that to polite indifference and I'll accept it."
He wasn't delusional enough to think he could make the two younger men like each other. This wasn't Sirius and Regulus wasn't James' younger brother and only blood family. But, he could at least do better than he had as a prefect and insist on civility. With both Regulus and Snape.
Struggling to sit back up himself, he pretended not to be able to hear the particular note James' voice had taken on as he nodded.
"Of course I was," he said casually, ignoring the protest his muscles had just put up over sitting up. He'd forced himself to get up and get moving the morning after the Full a number of times over the last few years. He healed. If he had to, he could work the night after. It wasn't that hard to lay back and think of England. He'd been up and moving -- much to Harry's surprise and, Remus thought, disapproval -- by late afternoon or early evening the month before.
And, if he was making excuses in his head, well, he ignored that, too.
